Description
An easy care shrub rose with the look of a classic hybrid tea but without all the hassles, the Easy Elegance Kashmir Rose features deep red buds atop long stems that open to rich velvety red double roses from late spring through fall. The long stems make the blooms excellent for cutting and display in flower arrangements and bouquets. New leaves emerge red and mature to glossy green. At 3 to 4 feet tall and equally as wide, this low-maintenance rose fits nicely in smaller garden spaces, home foundation plantings and containers, or as a colorful low hedge or grouping in landscape borders. Kashmir rivals the Red Knock Out Rose in disease resistance and flower power but won’t grow nearly as tall and wide. Hardy in USDA Zones 4a-9b
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 3 to 4 feet tall and equally wide, the Kashmir Rose is ideal for use as a specimen in small garden spaces and containers or as an accent or in groupings or as a colorful hedge in landscape and flowering shrub borders. This rose is so reliable and attractive throughout the season we have no problem suggesting it for use in home foundation plantings. A fine addition to rose gardens, cottage gardens and red theme color gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â 3 feet apart for hedges; 8 feet apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Easy Elegance Kashmir Rose is exceptionally easy to grow in a moist but well drained soil of average to high fertility and full sun to part shade. As with all other roses, morning sun is a must to dry dew from the leaves, which prevents powdery mildew. Afternoon shade or filtered sun is fine. We suggest 6 hours of direct sunlight per day for best flowering.
Maintenance is minimal. No pruning is required however in late winter or early spring the branches can be cut back to about 15-18 inches above the ground in late winter or early spring. After this hard pruning, your rose will quickly flush out and start blooming with the arrival of warmer spring temperatures. Deadheading spent flowers through the season is not necessary however will encourage new buds and flowers.
